About Us
Margaret Robinson
Helping Africa 100 was formed by Garrie Bolton and Margaret Robinson in August 2006 after working voluntarily in Tanzania.
They had worked with small community groups that, with little or no aid, were struggling to help people in need. Garrie and Margaret gave hands on help such as teaching and child care, and also found their business skills were a great asset in helping these groups become established and sustainable. Friends and family had already given donations which Garrie and Margaret spent on food, educational materials and care for people affected by poverty.
Garrie Bolton
They knew that they would always want to return to Africa to continue to support small community groups and help them become sustainable. They decided they could do more by setting up their own UK based charity called simply "Helping Africa 100". Why 100?
100% of donations and subscriptions are spent to benefit local community groups that are already 100% committed to helping adults and children in great need.
All travel expenses and administration costs are funded personally by the trustees. This principle can be maintained if Helping Africa 100 remains small and focussed.
Helping Africa 100's aim now, is to continue to make a difference to local communities by giving people a chance to improve their lives. Garrie and Margaret return to Tanzania each year to work with the groups, give support and monitor progress.
